Text description provided by the architects. AG5 in collaboration with Consulting engineers Jens Peter Madsen have designed a new 1.060m² extension to Frederiksberg sports hall. The sports facilities are the home to the well-known handball and football clubs such as FIF, BK Ydun and FA2000.
The projectis an extension to the existing sports complex and is conceived as the head of the snake in the story about the Little Prince (Le Petit Prince) where the narrator explains that, as a young boy, he once drew a picture of a boa constrictor with anelephant digesting in its stomach; however, every adult who saw the picture would mistakenly interpret it as a drawing of a hat. Whenever the narrator would try to correct this confusion, he was ultimately advised to set a side drawing and take up a more practical or mature hobby. The narrator laments the lack of creative understanding displayed by adults
It is designed in 2 levels incorporating new bigger and better changing facilities on the ground floor and an expansion of the club, activity and accommodation facilities on the upper floor. The new upper level club rooms will house Football club FA2000.
A new large 250m² protected terrace affords direct viewsto the newly landscaped artificial turf playing field adjacent of the new extension. Direct access to the terrace can be gained from the cafe, activity and club rooms.
The project focuses on optimizing daylight conditions, sustainable materials and energy optimization. The design will conforms to the strict Danish energy classification; low-energy class2015.
